Politecnico di Milano is a leading Italian technical university where 40,000 engineers, architects and designers are educated each year. POLIMI has always aimed at the quality and innovation of teaching and research, by developing a fruitful relationship with the economic and productive reality through experimental research and technology transfer technical university. The Manufacturing and Production System Lab is part of the Mechanical Engineering Department (POLIMI-MECC). Its main research topics concern the area of transformation processes of industrial products ranging from mechanical and technological characteristics of transformed materials to methodologies and tools for designing processes, the planning, management and control of manufacturing and assembly systems. POLIMI-MECC was promoter of the CIRP (www.cirp.net) interdisciplinary Working Group named SPECIES (www.species.polimi.it) aiming at enhancing the integration of product, process and production systems design and management, considering the way they evolve together, in the modern socio-economic and technological context.
