Ecole Centrale de Nantes (ECN) is a research and education institution. Main fields of interest and competence are: Engineering of Industrial Systems / Automatic control / Computer Sciences / Product Design and Manufacturing / Fluid Mechanics, Energetics and Oceanic Engineering / Mechanics, Materials and Civil Engineering / Social sciences: Communication, Foreign Languages and Corporate Culture Department.
All the scientific work will be carried out in the IRCCyN laboratory in ECN (that means in English: Research Institute on Communication and Cybernetics of Nantes). The IRCCyN laboratory is a JRU (Joint Research Unit – UMR 6597) and its legal representative are Ecole Centrale de Nantes (ECN), the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Université de Nantes (UN) and Ecole des Mines de Nantes (EMN).
11 research teams constitute the structure of the laboratory. The involved team in the project is named IS3P that means in English System engineering: Product, Performance and Perception. Its main research domains are related to industrial performance improvement and decision making. This goal is reached through four development topics: Optimization methods for system design and management; Knowledge management and PLM; Human factor integration in design; Methods for product variability and mass customisation.

ECN will share its experience in product/system life cycle and product model management. It will take the lead of the WP2 in which models, methods and tools will be developed for the customer-driven product-service design as well as for product modular structure definition. ECN will also carry out the research task on mapping product modules to production technologies in WP4. Additionally, ECN will lead the public awareness and dissemination task due to its strong experience in dissemination of research and innovation results, especially in European projects.
